City of Drakesville Council Meeting May 2nd, 2005
Meeting was called to order by Mayor Bob Closser. Council members present were Sharon Sines, Craig Walker, Karen Rudd, Jeff Sines, G Brad McKee. Also present were Marty Thompson and Al Kemmerer.
Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. Financial report was read and approved to pay outstanding bills. Storm Siren yet to be tested. Storm siren will then be tested on the first Saturday of each month around mid day.
Chris Day and Brad McKee volunteered to pick up appliances that were left out from Mustang Pride Day on Friday morning, May 6th and get the street signs from Ottumwa DOT. Street rocking is waiting on Davis County for hauling. Discussion was heard. A motion was approved to place an ad in the Bloomfield Democrat for street resurfacing and ditch work bids. Prospective contractors are to contact Mayor Bob Closser at 641-722-3521. Discussion was heard about the 28E agreement with Davis County Roads. Discussion was heard about posting of the unofficial City of Drakesville minutes in the Bloomfield Democrat and the Ottumwa Courier. Mayor Bob Closser stated that if it didn't cost the city of Drakesville anything it was not a bad idea since it was public record. Discussion was heard from the council that it didn't need to be in the papers. A motion was made by G Brad McKee to continue posting of city council meeting minute. Motion failed, 2 ayes, 3 nays. Marty Thompson building permit was approved. City Clerk Mary Stocker and Council person Karen Rudd to check with the courthouse concerning the west boundary of the City. Also presented by G Brad McKee was a Drakesville City Benefit auction to be held July 23 in the Drakesville city park. McKee has procured an auctioneer that will donate his services and has talked to others about items for the auction. A motion made by Jeff Sines to support this effort passed with the proceeds to be earmarked for signage and street maintenance. A motion passed to mail letters to residents concerning junk cars to either provide proof of license or have them removed. Council to compile a list. Motion passed to increase the bond for Mayor and City Clerk to $10, 000. Approval was made for the city clerk to purchase a new copy machine as the current one quit working and is old enough that repair is cost prohibitive. Meeting adjourned at 9:00 pm.
